Matthew R. Bogosian is the son of award-winning jewelry designer Michael Bogosian, aka Michael B., and Jackie Bogosian, a family law paralegal and real estate broker for over three decades. As a child of divorce, Matthew learned at an early age the trials and tribulations that occur when couples fall in and out of love. He has also experienced divorce himself and has compassion for those in the midst of trauma.
Matthew completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree graduating magna cum laude with Departmental Honors in Linguistics and, upon graduation, was inducted into the Eta Chapter of the Phi Beta Kappa Academic Honors Society for his outstanding achievement in liberal arts.
Matthew then attended Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu where he studied family law, advanced family law, and community property law. In addition to earning a Juris Doctor of Law, Matthew earned a Certificate in Divorce Mediation and a Certificate in Dispute Resolution at the world-renowned Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution where he won the American Jurisprudence Award in Negotiation and Settlement Advocacy.
During law school, Matthew clerked for Los Angeles Superior Court Family Law Commissioner Bobbi Tillmon in Santa Monica, California, volunteered in a Pro Bono Family Law Clinic under the supervision of Family Law Judge Colleen Toy White at Ventura County Superior Court, and served as a personal legal research assistant to celebrity divorce attorney Robert S. Kaufman of Kaufman & Young in Beverly Hills. During his time at Kaufman & Young, Matthew assisted on family law cases involving actors Antonio Banderas and Michael Douglas, recording artists Will Smith and Lionel Richie, and best-selling author Danielle Steele, among others.
After graduating from law school, Matthew served as a family law associate at the Los Angeles office of global law firm Morrison & Foerster under the supervision of Certified Family Law Specialist Patricia Phillips. During his time at Morrison & Foerster, Matthew continued work on numerous complex family law matters including cases involving comedian Chris Rock, Peter Norton, founder of the Norton Anti-Virus Software Program, and the owner of America's first and largest Honda car dealership.
In only his second year as an attorney, Matthew filed a successful Petition for Writ of Mandate to the California Court of Appeal in Bursum v. Superior Court, reversing a Los Angeles Superior Court judicial decision relating to a complex child custody jurisdiction issue involving cases in multiple states. Although Matthew was victorious at the appellate level, the experience gave him a greater appreciation for the benefits of mediation over the expense, uncertainty and delay of litigation.
In addition to his time at Morrison & Foerster, Matthew served for three years as a family law attorney at Nordman, Cormany, Hair & Compton, Ventura County's largest ever law firm, where he handled divorce cases in Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo.
In order to spend more time with his two children, Marina and Nile, Matthew spent four years at the Newport Beach office of Holstrom, Block & Parke where he handled complex family law matters in Los Angeles County, Orange County, Riverside County, San Bernardino County, San Diego, San Francisco and Placer County near Lake Tahoe.
Matthew has also spent was both the trial and appellate counsel in the published divorce case, Marriage of Bonvino (2015) 241 Cal.App.4th 1411, involving a trial over the value of real estate, the complexities of dividing the community property interest in a home purchased with separate property funds, and sanctions under California Family Code Section 271 awarded for bad faith litigation conduct.
Matthew is Certified as a Family Law Specialist by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization, is AV-Rated Pre-Eminent by Martindale-Hubbell, has repeatedly been inducted into Southern California SuperLawyers, and is ranked among the Nation's Top One Percent by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel.

Matthew has successfully mediated numerous cases involving not only family law but also complex civil litigation and offers both in person mediation and virtual mediation sessions. In addition, Matthew has served as a consultant in cases where a client already has a lead attorney and as an expert witness on issues relating to California family law.
In addition to providing highly specialized divorce and family law services throughout California, Matthew is a licensed California real estate agent with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties and specializes in assisting clients with the sale, transfer and purchase of real property either during or after a divorce, upon the death of a loved one, and for personal living and investment purposes.
